Tresor in Dortmund has launched free parties to refocus on the underground

Tresor.West from Dortmund is calling for support and launching free “ Community Nights ” to refocus on the underground. Tresor.West is offering free entry to its parties on Saturdays throughout January in Dortmund to return to its roots in the underground .  The sister club of the legendary Berlin institution opened in 2019 within a historic factory building.  Despite early success, on Friday, January 3, 2025, the team shared a post on Instagram highlighting the “bitter reality” faced by many similar organizations and clubs.  In an effort to increase visitor numbers and emphasize commitment to club culture, the weekly Community Saturdays events will have free entry for the entire month, with the lineup kept secret until each event and a focus on local performers willing to play for reasonable fees. “Clubbing should not be a privilege but must remain accessible,” Tresor.West explained in a statement.  “Instead of focusing on headliners, we are investing in you, shin...

Barbara Tucker Reveals How the House Anthem "Beautiful People" Was Made

It’s been 30 years since the release of “Beautiful People” , one of the most beloved vocal house hits of all time. Featured on the iconic Strictly Rhythm album , this track remains a timeless classic.  Barbara Tucker, the incredible voice behind the song, recently shared the story of how this anthem came to life. The song was written by Barbara Tucker, India, and Lem Springsteen, and produced by the legendary duo Louie Vega and Kenny Dope. Interestingly, Vega also used a vocal loop from the track for his project Hardrive, which later became the famous “Deep Inside” in 1993. In an interview, Tucker shared how she first met “Little Louie” Vega in New York during the 1980s.  She spoke about the inspiration behind the uplifting lyrics of “Beautiful People” and shared fun behind-the-scenes stories about filming for Top of the Pops and the music videos. In a surprising revelation, legendary DJ and producer Fatboy Slim (real name Norman Cook) admitted that he has lost the passion for creating new music. New Short Film “When the Music Ends” Illustrates the Reality of Sexual Harassment in the Electronic Music Industry

A new short film has been released to expose the truth about sexual harassment in the electronic music industry. The film is called “When the Music Ends” and was created by Berlin-based production house Spilled Milk, directed by Mo Kanaan and starring British DJ and producer Rebekah. The film is based on true stories from people who have remained anonymous and is based on a study by the Electronic Music Inclusion Initiative (EMII). The study covered 28 countries and reported over 615 incidents of harassment, ranging from insults to unwanted touching. What does this film show? In just five minutes, it portrays what many people have experienced in nightlife and shows how harassment takes a physical and mental toll on victims. This effort aims to raise awareness of these issues in the electronic music scene.  A special documentary, almost 30 years after its original release, has returned to YouTube for anyone who wants to watch it. The documentary “ Techno – the dream sold” , made in 1995 by East Germany’s Radio Brandenburg, tells the story of the “rise and fall of the rave generation” through interviews with journalists, music store owners and celebrities of the time, such as Dr. Motte and Jürgen Laarmann. The documentary tackles topics that are still relevant today, such as self-promotion and selfishness in the electronic music scene. In addition to interesting interviews, this documentary also features a great soundtrack with songs by Leftfield, Joey Beltram, Eric Murillo, Paul van Dyk and Barbara Tucker. Electronic music lovers are the most active listeners on SoundCloud

During a panel at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) on Thursday, October 17, SoundCloud representatives revealed that electronic music listeners are the most active users of the platform. According to the data presented, electronic music fans are: 52% more likely to comment on posts, 104% more likely to share music, 85% more likely to repost content. Geographically, the largest number of electronic music fans are in Belgium, Austria, and Germany, while Central and Northern Europe has the most engaged users. Interestingly, Vietnam ranks third in terms of the number of electronic music listeners on the platform. Electronic musi c is predicted to become the most popular genre on SoundCloud in 2024, accounting for nearly 22% of all streams, a 6% increase compared to 2022. The number of new uploads in this genre is also expected to increase by 21% compared to 2023, indicating that more and more producers are using SoundCloud to share their music. Nominations for the Electronic Music Award "Ambassador" have been announced

With the announcement of nominations in 35 categories of Croatia and the region, the voting of the audience and the jury for the best achievements in electronic music in 2024 also started.
