Back in the '70s and '80s, Kraftwerk created a brand-new sound using synthesizers, drum machines, and computers. It was something no one had heard before. That sound became the base for so many music genres we listen to today. Without Kraftwerk, there might be no Daft Punk, no Chemical Brothers, no Underworld, and maybe not even techno as we know it.
Their album “Computer World” was a huge influence. Big names like David Bowie, Juan Atkins, and Larry Heard looked up to them. Detroit techno legends called Kraftwerk their inspiration, showing how deep their impact went.
But Kraftwerk didn’t just shape techno and house. Their track “Trans-Europe Express” was sampled in Afrika Bambaataa’s legendary hip-hop track “Planet Rock”. Even Dr. Dre used parts of it in his song “Under Pressure” in 2010. Their sound reached synth-pop bands like Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears, and you can even hear their vibe in the Blade Runner movie soundtrack.
So even if you’ve never heard of Kraftwerk before, chances are you've heard their sound somewhere — on the radio, in the club, or in a movie.
If you're a party lover and want to know where the music you dance to really comes from, this documentary is your homework. Kraftwerk didn’t just make music — they built the future.
