UNESCO officially recognizes Berlin’s techno culture as part of Germany’s intangible cultural heritage! On October 22, a special ceremony was held in a magnificent baroque palace called Biebrich, located in Wiesbaden, Germany. UNESCO officially recognized Berlin’s techno culture as part of Germany’s intangible cultural heritage! This means that Berlin’s techno music and dance culture is now recognized as an important cultural treasure. The ceremony began at 4 p.m. and was attended by many important personalities. Timon Gremmels from the German Ministry of Culture, Christoph Wulf and Marlen Meißner from UNESCO in Germany were present, along with Antje Reppe, an advisor from the cultural heritage research center. The organization Rave the Planet , known for promoting Berlin’s techno scene, was represented by members such as Dr. Motte, Timm Zeiss and Ellen Dosch-Roeingh, who played a major role in making this recognition possible.  Around 200,000 people hit the streets of Berlin on Saturday, July 9th, for Rave The Planet, the first event of its kind in the city in more than 15 years.  The last Love Parade in Berlin was held in 2006 with 1.2 million visitors , and the last Love Parade in general was held in 2010 in Duisburg with tragic consequences. Love Parade was a big, colorful celebration of electronic music and techno culture . Millions of people from all over the world gathered to dance on the streets of Berlin.   Exactly one year ago, Berlin’s Rave The Planet gGmbH (non-profit) was launched and is therefore celebrating its first small anniversary of existence.  Not a matter of course after a year like 2020.  Rave The Planet has already successfully received over 390,000.00 Euros in donations from over 24,000 people from all over the world. Among other goals, to realise a new parade in Berlin in the spirit of the original Love Parade. The non-profit organisation, which includes techno legend Dr. Motte, focuses on three major goals:  1. To protect, promote and develop the culture of electronic dance music in all its forms. And to develop it further. To promote its own as well as other charitable projects in the long term.  2. To classify the culture of electronic dance music as an Immaterial Cultural Heritage under the UNESCO.  3.
