Deutsche Welle: Marijuana is legal in Germany, but "cannabis is not broccoli"

Cannabis is legalized, in Germany. Adults can legally possess and consume cannabis. According to the Ministry of Health, more than four million people in Germany occasionally or regularly consume cannabis, even though it was illegal until now. You can have 25 grams with you, even up to 50 grams at home. Weed smoking is also allowed in public - but not during the day in pedestrian areas, if children and young people are present or within sight of children's playgrounds, kindergartens and schools. There is a prohibited zone of 100 meters around the entrance. The Minister of Health, refers to a stricter criminal policy for the protection of young people.  Anyone who gives cannabis to children and adolescents must expect a prison sentence. Adult consumption is allowed, but the amount and proportion of the psychoactive substance THC are limited for those under 21 years of age. At the same time, an information campaign is planned, which is intended to warn young people about the danger

The German parliament supported the cannabis legalization

After a decade of public discussions, the Bundestag adopted the partial cannabis legalization in Germany this Friday (February 23). Until recently, the Government's plans for controlled use with numerous restrictions were criticized from several sides. Legalization was supported by 407 deputies, and 226 of them were against it. The new rules will be valid from April 1, 2024.  Cultivation and possession of certain quantities for personal consumption will be allowed for adults from April 1, 2024. Adults over the age of 18 are generally allowed to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis for personal use in a public place.  Cultivation of three cannabis plants and possession of up to 50 grams of cannabis for personal use are also allowed. Public consumption should be prohibited, among other things, in schools, sports facilities and in the vicinity of these facilities - more precisely 100 meters as the crow flies from the entrance to the facility. Weed smoking is prohibited in pedestrian

Luxembourg legalizes the cultivation and consumption of cannabis at home

It's official: Luxembourg deputies greenlit a law that allows limited cannabis cultivation and consumption at home. 38 MPs voted for the bill and 22 against it.  The repressive drug policy is an "absolute failure", said Justice Minister Sam Tanson (Dei Greng) at the end of the debate. For this reason: "We must dare to take a different path" and "look for solutions". Her party colleague José Lorchet noted: "It's not about trivializing or promoting cannabis, "this bill" is about fighting drug-related crime and the sale of cannabis on the black market." She added that this would also lead to better product quality, because those offered on the illegal drug market are "more harmful to the health of the user". People will be able to grow up to four plants in their home or usual place of residence. Cannabis plants can only be grown from seed and must not be visible from public areas. So no cannabis plants on balconies or

MDMA could repair bad relationships in romantic relationships

The pandemic has put love relationships under significant pressure as couples grapple with new difficulties, i.e. lack of privacy. Too much togetherness, lack of personal space and the inability to do normal activities, such as going to the gym, are cited as reasons that lead to problems in relationships. A website that provides legal documents has reported a 34 percent increase in divorce contract sales during the pandemic, compared to the same time period last year. Recent research by Dr. Brian Earp , titled Psychedelic Moral Enhancements, recalls MDMA being used in couples therapy in the 1980s. Is the time right to revive this study? Yale University's Earp writes:  "In the 1980s, before it was outlawed, MDMA —popularly known as ' ecstasy ' for the euphoric feeling it can produce"—was used by professional counselors as an aid to couples therapy." Writing in in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs in 1998, George Greer and Requa Tolbert described a method

MDMA - a love potion - comes within 5 years, says the anthropologist

The world may take a dystopian turn as MDMA -based 'love potions' c ould become available in the next 5 years!! :)  According to Metro , these love drugs could help shed light on the spark of romance that new couples need to start or even breathe life into a fading relationship.  The drink could be based on oxytocin , a ‘ cuddling hormone’ produced in moments of love and intimacy, or even small doses of the drug ecstasy MDMA. Dr. Anna Machin, an evolutionary a nthropologist at Oxford University , said  "We now know enough about the chemistry of the human brain to develop drugs that evoke the same feelings as love ." She also pointed out the ethical dilemmas posed by a drug that could affect the human brain in such a drastic way as love . Speaking at the Cheltenham Science Festival, Dr. Machin suggested that love drugs could become available in the next three to five years. According to The Independent, Dr. Machin compared a possible oxytocin-based love drug to

Scientists say MDMA could help treat mental health in a post-lockdown world

Mind Medicine Australia  has said that psychedelic drugs should be used as treatment to tackle the psychological impact of coronavirus quarantine. There’s no shortage of scientific research that proves psychedelic drugs can have a number of medical benefits. Magic mushrooms have previously been found to reduce depression and anxiety, as well as improve creativity ; LSD and DMT can trigger positive life changes ; and MDMA can reduce social anxiety and help you get over your trust issues. While Australia’s federal health minister has established new coronavirus support services, including digital and phone support, former Coalition MP (which is, confusingly, a centre-right party) and board member of Mind Medicine Australia (MMA) Andrew Robb is pushing forward a campaign to introduce MDMA and psilocybin – found in magic mushrooms – as a possible treatment. “It is potentially the most significant innovation in mental health we’ve seen in decades,” Robb told ABC. “We would be derelict

MDMA MAY NOT CAUSE COMEDOWNS, ACCORDING TO NEW STUDY

words by: Aneesa Ahmed  MDMA may not be the cause of your " Blue Mondays " after all, according to a new clinical trial. The study, titled Debunking the myth of 'Blue Mondays': No evidence of affect drop after taking clinical MDMA , tracks the moods and reactions of 14 people who were enlisted into an MDMA-assisted psychotherapy course to treat an alcohol disorder. Researchers found no drop-off following clinical MDMA use in the 14 participants. It instead claims that several of those who took part claimed that their mood went up and reported that they felt no inclination to use recreational MDMA .  As written in their abstract, the researchers: "aimed to evaluate the evidence basis for the negative side effects associated with MDMA as well as inform our understanding of the drug's post-acute effects in a clinical context with an open-label study." They found that comedowns that are associated with recreational MDMA were not seen in their patients. Th

Pill-ID – An App developed to scan ecstasy pills safety

The Pill-ID app developed by UK tech agency Rehab and French advertising agency Herezie is designed to scan MDMA pills to save lives.  The UK technology agency Rehabstudio has teamed up with French advertising agency Herezie to develop the prototype app Pill-ID.  The app can scan ecstasy pills ( MDMA ) using the cameras on people’s smartphones and provide instant information on the substance, its content, the dosage level, level of risk and likely side effects.  The major obstacle with illegal recreational drugs is that there is no regulation to the market for quality or safety control. This is where the takers are at most risk as they have no clue what they are taking when buying off strangers at parties or in the streets.  Users simply open the app and can either use their camera to take a photo of a pill or upload an existing picture. The app’s machine learning model, tensorflow.js (a google technology) will then try to identify the drug by searching Nuit-Blanche , a database on di

Oregon (USA) becomes first state to legalize magic mushrooms

Oregon became the first state to legalize the active ingredient in so-called magic mushrooms ,  psilocybin , that saw more states ease restrictions on recreational drugs across the country. Through Measure 110, which has captured more than 58% of the vote so far, Oregon would also decriminalize the possession of small amounts of some hard drugs, including heroin and LSD .  Instead of criminal prosecution, people in possession would face a $100 fine, which can be waived if the person agrees to pursue treatment, according to the measure. In addition to psychedelics, a number of states asked voters to choose a path forward for their regulation of marijuana, too. In New Jersey and Arizona, voters legalized the recreational use of marijuana. [ source ]

Study: Ravers Still Do Drugs At Home During Virtual Streaming Events

Ravers are using drugs at home during virtual events.  Although music venues have closed and dance music lovers are now watching shows from home, it seems that party-life will not be going away anytime soon.  Virtual events have become the new norm for ravers, as the current pandemic continues to threaten the entertainment industry.  People are now finding new ways to have fun in the safety of their own homes.  There is a new study, published in the International Journal of Drug Policy, that examines drug use at virtual raves and happy hours. 55.5 percent of them attend virtual events while 69.5 attend online happy hours.  To obtain this information, online surveys were issued in April and May 2020 by researchers at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and the Center for Drug Use and HIV/HCV Research at NYU School of Global Public Health. Researchers have found that 70 percent of participants drink alcohol during these events. Nearly 30 percent of partygoers use marijuana, which was found t

Legalization of Cannabis for Medical Use in Thailand

The number of illegal drug users rose by 130,000 this year after Thailand legalised cannabis for medical purposes, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) said.  ONCB secretary-general Niyom Termsrisuk blamed easy access to the drug for the rising number of narcotics users. The previous coup-installed government passed a law last year to legalise marijuana for medical purposes only.  However, cannabis remains a Narcotic Type 5, with steep penalties for its misuse. Despite cannabis being available to prescribed patients only, the policy has led to cannabis becoming a readily available source of recreational drugs, he said, adding that it was easy for teenagers to obtain it.  He said the underground market was using the positive image of cannabis to boost their online trading efforts. What Makes Ecstasy so Dangerous: High Society

British people statistically take more MDMA in one session than any other country on the planet .   And not just a little bit more: on average, Brits take 420 milligrams per session.   To put that in perspective, Germans , the same people who invented minimal techno and nightclubs that stay open for 60 hours – take only 200 milligrams.  It’s still one of the safest drugs to take, but last year, ecstasy-related deaths reached their highest level in a decade, and now it’s back in the headlines.   Some people say it’s drug dealers’ responsibility for selling pills that are dangerously strong and cut with adulterants.  Other people point to the government, who have failed to reduce the supply of ecstasy and are refusing to embrace harm reduction strategies that have worked in Europe.  Of course it’s also possible that the issue lies with British drug users themselves, who sometimes need reminding that the barometer of a good night out isn’t how much of your tongue is left at the end

Cannabis reduces headache and migraine

Cannabis reduces headache in 47.3% and migraine pain in 49.6% of respondents, according to a recent study led by Carrie Cuttler , assistant professor of psychology at the University of Washington. The study, recently published online in the Journal of Pain, is the first to use real-time data on headache and migraine patients using cannabis.  Previous studies have asked patients to recall the effects of cannabis use in the past. There was one clinical trial that suggested cannabis was better than Brufen in relieving headache, but it used nabilon, a synthetic cannabinoid drug. "We are motivated for this study because a significant number of people say they use cannabis for headaches and migraines, but surprisingly few studies have responded to this topic," said Cuttler, lead author of this paper. "We wanted to approach it in an environmentally sound way, which is to look at actual patients who use herbal cannabis to meditate in their own homes and surroundings,

MDMA can be consumed without 'days after'

New research shows that by properly using MDMA, it is possible to avoid that exhausted and unhelpful feeling after partying. Dr. Ben Sessa, a Bristol psychiatrist, is currently undergoing MDMA psychotherapy and research. He argues that the use of MDMA for medical purposes did not record cases of typical mood drop and drop of motivation, as in recreational use, but a hangover prescribed as lack of sleep, high volume of movement and negligent drug use, while MDMA alone does not seem to leave such consequences. Dr. Ben Sessa claims that his patients treated for alcoholism use MDMA properly and in controlled doses where they talk about the occurrence of "afterglow" instead of partisans known as "the day after. The Croatian Ministry of Health has banned the use of “gas for laughing”

The Ministry of Health has banned gas used by tourists in Pag on a massive drug charge. The ban is temporary and is valid until the end of the season, that is, until September 30.  For years, ampoules of nitrous oxide on Zrche have been popular . Discarded gas ampoules that can be used legally in Croatia can be found everywhere. It is a gas that can be found in medicine as an anesthetic and in catering as a propellant for whipped cream. In addition to euphoria , nitrous oxide can cause mild hallucinations, and overuse increases the risk of fainting. It can also cause vomiting , headache or drowsiness . Combined with excessive amounts of alcohol or drugs can cause more serious consequences. While not illegal, for example, there are several laws in the U.S. regarding the distribution of nitric oxide to minors and recreational inhalers. Nitrogen oxide (which is extremely popular with young British) has long been debated in the UK, but in the end the court wo

They also provide a safe space for people to cool down and have healthy conversations about the drug use and their health. These are their rules on MDMA safety:  - test your drugs - hydrate yourself  - drink water and electrolytes - take breaks and cool down - Communicate with someone around you if you start to feel overwhelmed or are having a difficult experience Read m
