Temple of the Deep: Burning Man 2025’s Temple Inspired by Ancient Volcanic Rocks

Burning Man has recently unveiled the design for its new temple, “Temple of the Deep,” created by Spanish architect Miguel Arraiz.

Standing approximately 13.4 meters tall and spanning a diameter of around 32 meters, the temple draws inspiration from the ancient volcanic rocks of the surrounding Black Rock Desert landscape. The design merges natural and futuristic elements to create a space for communal reflection and healing.

The temple symbolizes strength and fragility, exploring themes of light and darkness, the personal and the collective, and the importance of honoring our life journeys. During the festival, participants will have the opportunity to experience this stunning structure, offering a sanctuary for contemplation and connection.

The Burning Man Project is currently facing significant financial challenges in preparing for this year’s festival.

Following weaker ticket sales for the 2024 event, the organization launched a fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $20 million. As of December 2024, $14 million was still needed to meet this target.

Despite these difficulties, the organizers remain committed to holding the festival, relying on community support and donations to bridge the financial gap.

More details about the temple’s design and construction process are available on Burning Man’s official website.
