Electronic music lovers are the most active listeners on SoundCloud

During a panel at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) on Thursday, October 17, SoundCloud representatives revealed that electronic music listeners are the most active users of the platform.


According to the data presented, electronic music fans are:

52% more likely to comment on posts,

104% more likely to share music,

85% more likely to repost content.

Geographically, the largest number of electronic music fans are in Belgium, Austria, and Germany, while Central and Northern Europe has the most engaged users. Interestingly, Vietnam ranks third in terms of the number of electronic music listeners on the platform.

Electronic music is predicted to become the most popular genre on SoundCloud in 2024, accounting for nearly 22% of all streams, a 6% increase compared to 2022. The number of new uploads in this genre is also expected to increase by 21% compared to 2023, indicating that more and more producers are using SoundCloud to share their music.

House music is the most listened to genre and has the longest listening time, while hardcore is in second place in terms of number of listens and listening time. Trance music comes in second place in terms of number of listeners and third in terms of number of listens and total listening time.

Research conducted by A2D2 in April showed that house music is the most popular club genre in the United Kingdom, dominating in 9 out of 16 cities.

Trance music is also the fastest growing genre in 2024, with a 24% increase in listening time and an 11% increase in listeners over the past year.

Voting for the Ambassador Award has ended
