GERMANY: Mayday celebrates 33 years of existence.
Mayday is probably the most traditional, long-standing event for electronic dance music, and on April 30th it will celebrate 33 years of existence.
It has been called the "mother of all raves" or the "holiday of electronic music culture". It has already spread to countries like Poland, Russia, Hungary and Belgium. This year's edition of the German cult rave begins with over 30 performances on four floors.
This year's motto is "United"
Maydaya music unites "unity, respect and acceptance" and thus connects people. Mayday is a "celebration of life, love and the enduring power" of electronic music.
Oliver Vordemvenne, from the organizing agency I-Motion, points out that music unites:
"people, cultures and generations". Techno is "peaceful and interethnic", which is what the motto should focus on."
Since the release of 2022, Mayday has relied more and more on the concept of techno along with hard techno - previously at the beginning there were different genres and variants of electronic dance music, such as trance, house, EDM, classical.
This year's line-up includes numerous techno giants.
The aim of the line up is to present trends and sounds from mainstream electronic music.
Mayday takes place on April 30 from 20:00 in Dortmund (Westfalenhalle), Germany.
See ya at the dancefloor ;)
