Primal Instict: Unraveling the science behind techno

Prepare to delve into the intriguing world of Primal Instinct, the groundbreaking label founded by Berlin-based visionary, Chlär , in collaboration with Alarico and The Chronics.

The EP from "Funk Assault", a dynamic duo comprising Chlär and Alarico, was unveiled alongside the label's launch, and its vinyl edition promptly sold out, exceeding expectations.

On June 30, the digital edition of the EP has made its grand entrance, featuring a carefully curated selection of five tracks.

Chlär's vision shines through these compositions, capturing the essence of Primal Instinct: an amalgamation of organic digital sounds and infectious, repetitive patterns that will have you surrender to the groove.

For Chlär, the creation of Primal Instinct has been a long-time coming.

During a captivating performance at Radion Amsterdam prior to the pandemic, a single track ignited an electrifying response from the crowd. This profound moment ignited Chlär's curiosity, leading him to explore the science and psychology behind music and its impact on the human brain.

Driven by his passion for academic research, Chlär defines techno music as an intricate tapestry of complex, groovy patterns crafted through advanced yet organic sound design.

He believes that techno embodies the fusion of primitivism and innovation, unifying these two opposing forces to create an unparalleled sonic experience.

Drawing from his extensive exploration of music history, Chlär bears out the innate human connection to drums, percussions, and the undeniable power of groove. Scholars have labeled music as a "universal language," and neurologists point to syncopation as a prime example of our intrinsic affinity for intricate rhythmic structures.

Further studies revealed that blending repetitive loops, a defining characteristic of techno music, with deep bass frequencies, to which the human brain is inherently attuned, triggers a primal need to dance, both on a cognitive and musical level.

Driven by a desire to debunk the misconceptions surrounding DJs and producers, Chlär embarked on extensive research to demonstrate the profound artistic value of his craft. In a society that often reduces these creators to mere clowns or button-pushers, he seeks to redefine the perception of his work.

To complement the label's ethos, Primal Instinct boasts meticulously crafted visuals. FEMUR, employing AI-fueled animation and artwork, has masterfully curated an immersive visual experience that solidifies the label's position as a bridge between primitive instincts and modern innovation—a historical ingredient intricately woven into the fabric of techno music.
