Research: Techno has been the best-selling genre for the last four years

The International Music Summit in Ibiza annually publishes a study exploring the development of the electronic music industry globally.



In addition to a number of interesting lectures, discussions, forums, workshops and parties, the research is being conducted by analyst Kevin Watson, a passionate lover of the electronic genre from London. He is also the author of a Dance-onomics study published in 2012 in the Netherlands.

Electronic music is the third most listened genre in the world according to the International Music Conference in Ibiza.

 64% listen to pop music, 57% rock, and 32% listen to electronic music.

The survey was conducted on the basis of 19 thousand people, aged 16 to 64 years from 18 countries. Based on this survey about 1.5 billion people are listening to electronic music today.

According to Beatport, the world's most famous digital electronic music store, techno has been a top-selling genre for 4 years now.

The second in line is Tech-house, third house, fourth deep house, Melodic house and melodic techno now also in the fifth position.

The estimated earnings of the 10 highest paid DJs since the show declined significantly in 2018 to $ 261 million, while e.g. 2017.g. The top 10 highest paid DJs have made $ 298 million since the show.

According to 2018 data, Calvin Harris is still the world's highest paid DJ, earning $ 48 million a year, while earning half a million more a year ago. Most DJs perform over 100 times a year, with Steve Aoki recording 200 performances over the same period. The research was conducted by Forbes magazine.

Festicket brings interesting data on the number of female DJ appearances at various festivals in 2018. Nina Kraviz thus performs 35 times a year in one year, which is twice as much as, for example. the most sought after band The Killers (18 times a year). Amelie Lens has 27 appearances a year at festivals (2017 had 4 appearances), followed by Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

Voting for the Ambassador Award has ended

Voting for the best achievements in electronic music for the 2024 Croatian Ambassador Awards has ended.  It is awarded for the eighth time in a row by the Klubska Scena portal , and the project is implemented by the Klubska Kultura association.  The award ceremony will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024, at KUC Travno Zagreb, where the program will be opened for the first time with the exhibition of the most famous regional photographer Marko Obradović Edge called "Totalka".  The two-day program will be enriched by musical performances by bands and live acts and a discursive program that will be held the following day, December 14, in the Zagreb hip Radionica 32.
