The previous RP-DJ1200 model , sold more than 500,000 units since 1996 when it came out - the new model should cater more to modern DJing. Earlier in the year, Luke Slater offered up one of the most full-throttle and mind-altering Planetary Assault Systems releases of recent times, " Straight Shooting ". He opts for a similarly mind-altering, forthright fusion of sci-fi sounds and jacking techno rhythms on this fine double EP, which marks the British veteran's return to Ostgut Ton after a three-year break. It was apparently inspired by his experiences in Berghain and on tracks like " Red " - all looped bleeps, computerized rhythms and hazy vocal samples - and the thrusting, acid-fired tribal stomp of " Whip It Good" you can definitely hear the influence of the Berlin club space. It's there, too, in the wonky broken techno/electro fusion of " Kamani " and the feverish " Peru Drift ", which sounds like a 21st century take on Jaydee's " Plastic Dreams ". [source]

Free Tekno is a journey into the true underground of illegal underground techno festivals in Central Europe. The director travels with a group of Dutch and Irish young men who organize  illegal rave parties  in the forests of  Germany  and the  Czech  Republic. This is called the  underground   that is often written or referred to, but we rarely see it. As one interviewee puts it:   "We don't want money to profit, we do this out of love and be at a positive zero; if we make money, we use the money for travel or vacation expenses." After this year’s edition of EXIT Festival which was the most successful ever by many standards, next year, from July 9th to 12th, the festival will celebrate its 20th birthday! The Senate has formally proposed a new law that will interfere with the survival of the scene in that country. The law provides that every organizer must adapt to the new "precautions" that require him to meet with the mayor at least one month before the event. They are also seeking a reduction in volume and noise parameters, new administrative deadlines and other difficult criteria to apply. This law is reminiscent of the UK law of the 90s which was then in force at illegal parties. Currently, the problem is to get all the permits and authorizations, but with the new law it will be almost impossible for one average young organizer to embark on such obligations. Penalties for breaching the law are £ 3750 and / or seizing equipment that is expensive. They believe that the law will contribute to the overall better lifestyle of the stat. FU-5 and Vince from Argentina and Portugal Opening things on side A we have ' Compress C3 ' and ' Compress C4 ' two analog monsters where the Argentinian artist shows his wildest side. After their first foray into the vinyl world last year, with a beast of a release from Time Traveler, Holland's Obscuur return with another vinyl outing, this time from Ceili. With two very strong originals and wonderful remixes from harder favourites Hadone and Rommek. At once pristine and rough, there's an attention to detail which allows every sound to pop, both across the percussive opener and the arpeggio based second track. There's definitely a hint of rave warfare in here too, it's high octane stuff for an energetic crowd. On remix duties we have the ever heavyweight Hadone , who slams his foot on the gas, playing it flat out. London regular Rommek displays the breadth of his character as usual, with a fired up breakbeat style roller closing out the release. Enjoy!

Anthony Rother's music has always sounded futuristic, so it's not surprising that this release sounds like it came from another time. However, instead of the robust electro drums that Rother's music is usually based on, the title track is underpinned by a stripped back techno arrangement. Despite this slightly different approach than usual, it still gives him the opportunity to deliver his signature robo-vocals and austere, frosty synths.
