MDMA MAY NOT CAUSE COMEDOWNS, ACCORDING TO NEW STUDY

words by: Aneesa Ahmed  MDMA may not be the cause of your " Blue Mondays " after all, according to a new clinical trial. The study, titled Debunking the myth of 'Blue Mondays': No evidence of affect drop after taking clinical MDMA , tracks the moods and reactions of 14 people who were enlisted into an MDMA-assisted psychotherapy course to treat an alcohol disorder. Researchers found no drop-off following clinical MDMA use in the 14 participants. It instead claims that several of those who took part claimed that their mood went up and reported that they felt no inclination to use recreational MDMA .  As written in their abstract, the researchers: "aimed to evaluate the evidence basis for the negative side effects associated with MDMA as well as inform our understanding of the drug's post-acute effects in a clinical context with an open-label study." They found that comedowns that are associated with recreational MDMA were not seen in their patients. Th

Vinyl sales have increased 108% in 2021

Vinyl has practically never stopped being produced and sold, primarily thanks to DJs and DJ culture. This boom in sales is an impressive 108% increase in comparison to the same time period in 2020 where 9.2 million vinyl records were sold. Although Vinyl for the last few years has started to consistently outperform CD sales, which in the first half of 2021 stood at 18.9 million units sold.  Some of the top-selling vinyl releases of the year include Harry Styles’ ‘Fine Line’, Billie Eilish’s ‘When We All Fall

Clean Scene analysed the carbon footprint of Resident Advisor’s top 1000 DJs touring in 2019.  They found that between them the DJs take 51,000 flights annually, travelling 117 million kilometres.   This uses 3.2million litres of fuel, releasing 35million kg of CO2 into the air.   They note that this is equivalent to 20,000 households’ electricity for one year, powering 8000 festivals for three days, or pressing 25 million records. “The demand for a small number of DJs to tour constantly is the result of an environmentally unsustainable industry” the report reads.  “And an industry that we have an opportunity to collectively reimagine.” The report also “By travelling over 118,
