BLOND:ISH releases a 100% biodegradable plastic-free vinyl album

BLOND:ISH releases the most sustainable vinyl record in the world  The Canadian DJ and producer has released a fully compostable compilation album "Plastic Free Party" made from bacteria.  Developed in collaboration with sustainable collective Evolution Music and vinyl pressing factory Deepgrooves, the compilation uses PHAs, which act as bacterial plastic mimics.  The Canadian non-profit organization Bye Bye Plastics points out that traditional vinyl records are the music medium with the most intense emissions, generating 12 times more greenhouse gases than other music media.  There is no compromise when it comes to sound quality According to the press release, the board will only begin to degrade after prolonged exposure to moisture or if left unprotected in a natural environment. Over 1,500 DJs from around the world have signed a petition to remove single-use plastic from the music industry

The movement, called Bye Bye Plastic, was founded by Vivie-Ann Bakos, also known as Blond:ish, and has gained support from well-known DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Honey Dijon, and Pete Tong, among others. The initiative aims to eliminate the use of plastic in DJ booths and has been named "#PlasticFreeParty".  DJs who signed the petition have pledged to adhere to the rule that prohibits the use of single-use plastic in the DJ booth. Founder Vivie-Ann Bakos says that change is driven by movements and that music is the secret ingredient in creating such movements.  She believes that music can bind and unite people, and that it should be used for infinite good.  This movement is part of a larger trend in the music industry, with festivals around the world launching initiatives to reduce the use of plastic packaging.  Ibiza, known for setting trends in the industry, has also started taking steps towards reducing single-use plastic. After a four-year break, the spring edition of T ime Warp festival is returning to its home in Mannheim, Germany on April 1st.  This year's event will feature 19 hours of music on 6 dance floors, with over 40 headliners including world-famous DJs such as Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Richie Hawtin, Charlotte de Witte, Nina Kraviz, The Martinez Brothers, Paul Temple, Ricardo Vilalobos, Marco Carola, Seth Troxler, and Dixon. Belgrade was conquered by the EXIT Dance Arena event, which officially launched EXIT's festival season.  The main Hangar of the Port of Belgrade was packed with more than 5,000 people who danced to the sophisticated tech house sound of Hot Since 82.  The event was a perfect prelude to one of the strongest editions of mts Dance Arena, featuring renowned artists such as Eric Prydz, Nina Kraviz, Amelie Lens, Indira Paganotto, Keinemusik, Michael Bibi, CamelPhat, and many others.  The evening was opened by last year's Let's Mix It competition winner Dakman, and the music project IDQ performed their hybrid DJ set, premiering unreleased tracks from their long-awaited album "Borderline."  The EXIT Dance Arena event in Belgrade was a massive success, and the upcoming mts Dance Arena is set to be one of the most exciting editions yet. HEMI Incubator CALL for 2023

HEMI Incubator 2023 is launching its second edition, offering mentorship, international contacts and business opportunities to music professionals in the Central and SouthEastern Europe region.  Applications are open now until the 22nd of March at 24:00 CET.  Participants will receive mentoring , workshops and accreditations, while 6 projects/companies will receive grant support.   The incubator is open to self-employed or small and medium-sized companies, entrepreneurs, and citizens of the 9 HEMI countries living in the EU, UK, or EFTA countries.   Those offering a sustainable solution to the music sector or creating a service, product or company related to the electeonic music sector are welcome to apply.
